"Local peace and justice groups are hosting a fair booth again this year. This year’s theme is “Never again...Hiroshima - Nagasaki.”  Exhibits will help fair goers appreciate the magnitude of the atrocities committed in 1945, 71 years ago, and learn how to take action to eliminate nuclear weapons. To volunteer for a 3-hour shift, please use this SignUp.

We will remember the August 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan and renew our pledge to promote peace and end war. Commemoration events include paper crane making, poetry, music and the symbolic lighting of candles. At the conclusion of the ceremony, all present are invited to walk the short distance to the Van Buren Bridge to watch as boats travel down river carrying lanterns for peace and for the remembrance of all those who lost lives in the bombings.  Sponsored by the Corvallis branch of Women's International League of Peace & Freedom (WILPF)."
